Key Achievements

  • Designed and extended the business-validation engine: declarative XML rule sets combined with Java rules and environment-specific overrides, covering address and ZIP formats per acquirer, MID/MAID uniqueness within a gateway and instalment configurations, so that invalid registrations are rejected before any downstream system is touched.
  • Delivered Original Credit Transaction (OCT) support end to end: brand-level enablement, generation of acquiring configurations only for OCT-enabled brands, matching against existing configurations, and the integration tests for the whole flow.
  • Extended the workflow engine's graph builders (core AMS flow and the Elastic Engine flow) with new provisioning nodes and dependencies: provider accounts for recurring payments, user activation, OnUs billing, RBAC products, MOTO commerce type, legal entities for the TranzAxis processor.
  • Built and hardened adapters to partner systems (NOVA, WEP, WDP, Klarna): query support, optional-result readers, graceful handling of empty and 404 responses, secrets removed from node payloads.
  • Evolved the public registration contract (XSD) and the global configuration so that new products and partners could be onboarded through configuration rather than code changes in the integration modules.
  • Improved operability of the portal: optimised registration search for unfiltered queries, kept the Citrus integration suite green through contract changes.

Details

AMS (Automated Merchant Setup) is an enterprise merchant-onboarding automation platform for a European payment provider. It orchestrates merchant registration and provisioning across approximately 20 external systems, including acquiring, payment processing, risk management, terminal configuration, and alternative payment providers.

The platform features a configurable business-validation engine combining declarative XML rules with Java logic, and a versioned, fault-tolerant workflow engine that dynamically builds dependency graphs, tracks execution state, and resumes failed provisioning operations without restarting the entire process.

Built on Java, Oracle, and Tomcat, AMS integrates heterogeneous partner systems through dedicated adapters and standardized contracts. An operational portal provides registration management, workflow visualization, integration diagnostics, performance monitoring, and administrative controls. Additional capabilities include automated notifications, partner callbacks, ticketing integration, compliance workflows, and scheduled processing.
